Echinocereus mojavensis Rachel, NV

Echinocereus mojavensis Rachel, NV

Echinocereus mojavensis or Mojave Claret Cup Cactus is another great cactus for a cold garden. Seed for these plants were collected near Rachel, Nevada on dolomite limestone. I was able to get seed pods on very large clumps. Plants have survived -22F in our garden from several locations including this location. I also have a positive report from a friend in Iowa keeping these outside and these taking -20's with an extended period of time below freezing (7 days). This is the most cold wet winter tolerant species of Claret Cup Cactus I sell.

We are offering smaller plants than normal in 3" pots, thus the cheaper price.

I do not guarantee these in a zone 5/6/7 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
