Agave gracilipes Queen, NM 5600ft

Agave gracilipes Queen, NM 5600ft

Agave gracilipes has proven to be hardy in Colorado taking -22F on a few occasions. This particular form has been growing in our garden for 20+ years and bloomed several times. These have proven to get quite large reaching 36" accross and 30" tall. Agave gracilipes is a natural occuring hybrid between Agave neomexicana and Agave lechuguilla.

The original seed for these were collected from above Queen, NM at an elevation of 5600ft growing in Pinon-juniper woodlands. Plants have proven to be as hardy as Agave neomexicana but are like a thinner more elgant looking plant.

I do not guarantee these in a zone 5 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
