Agave parryi Williams, AZ 8200ft
Agave parryi has proven to be hardy in Colorado taking -22F on a few occasions. This particular form has been growing in our garden for 5+ years and has shown to be the coldest form. These have proven to get quite large reaching 36" accross and 30" tall. This form offsets regularly.
The original seed for these were collected from just south of Williams, AZ growing on a open exposure with Alligator Junipe (Juniperus deppeana) and Spiny Star (Escobaria vivipara). This area may be one of the harshest winter areas in Arizona.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
