Agave polianthiflora Nácori Chico, MX 5900ft
Agave polianthiflora is the gem of the little Agave in that it is Polycarpic which means it does not die after it blooms. It will bloom every couple years once it reaches that age. Flowers are a nice red color and attract hummingbirds. Seed was from Mesa Garden 1898.552 at Nácori Chico, MX 5900ft.
This species has survived -11F in Colorado and requires good drainage and a rocky microclimate to have success. It is a small plant so if you do not want to risk it, a container will be fine.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5/6 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
