Agave utahensis forma eborispina "miniature form" Kingston Mts, CA
Agave utahensis forma eborispina "miniature form" has proven to be hardy in Colorado taking -22F on a few occasions. This particular form has been growing in our garden for 20+ years and bloomed several times. Blooming plants have reached only 8" acros and 5" tall, occasionaly clumping but this tends to be more solitary. The original seed was collected off a plant with no marginal spines. Seedlings have shown some signs of this as it matures. Seed origin is the Kingston Mts, CA growing on white marble rock.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Extreme drainage is required for this species. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
