Cylindropuntia x anasaziensis 'Hovenweep'
Cylindropuntia x anasaziensis or Anasazi Cholla was named and described by our owner. It was described in the Book 'The Cactus of Colorado" by Don and Donnie Barnett. If you want a copy go to Coloradocacti.com Plants are zone 5 maybe even a zone 4 as this form came from SW colorado where it gets lots of snow and cold.
The Hovenweep form is a large upright cholla to 5ft. Probably the largest of the Anasazi varieties. This plant is found near the National monument and not actually in it. But there are very few landmarks as defined as Hovenweep nearby. This clone gets Pink flowers like piedra but seems more willing to reproduce and is a much larger cholla than the Piedra location.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 4/5/6/7 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
