Echinocereus chisoensis ssp. metornii
Echinocereus chisoensis ssp. metornii is a higher elevation cousin of Texas plant. They get a slight tap root and are closely related to Echinocereus reichenbachii and E. palmeri. These have taken -2F in our garden but have not had them longer to test. However these seem to be shorter lived species surviving maybe 5 to 8 years in garden conditions. They will have a great or awesome year of flowering and then have a let down the next season.
