Echinocereus klapperi x E. reichenbachii

Echinocereus klapperi x E. reichenbachii

Echinocereus klapperi x E. reichenbachii has survived -11F in our garden. However, a friend in Wiggins, CO had these survive ice storms, heavy snow and take -26F with no damage. Echinocereus klapperi is a small mexican claret cup species that blooms mid-summer with long flower tubes. I was able to catch a late out of sync E. reichenbachii blooming and crossed these plants. Even tho the seed came off of E. klapperi the plants look more like Echinocereus reichenbachii. Again try at your own risk.

We share our experiences to help with your own trials of cold hardiness. We do not guarantee these plants in any garden or zone. Every garden is different and everyones growing conditions are different. Please try plants at your own risk, I do not want to be misleading to anyone.
