Echinocereus mojavensis forma inermis Delta, CO 6000ft
Echinocereus mojavensis forma inermis or Spineless Claret Cup Cactus is another great cactus for a cold garden. This is a mostly spineless form of our other Echinocereus mojavensis. Seed for these plants were collected near Delta, Colorado at 6000ft on black volcanic and gypsum soils. Plants have survived -22F in our garden from several locations including this location. I also have a positive report from a friend in Iowa keeping these outside and these taking -20's with an extended period of time below freezing (7 days). We are offering small plants in 3" pots, again to try and curb the resale of these.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5/6/7 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
