Echinocereus reichenbachii x E. fendleri

Echinocereus reichenbachii x E. fendleri is a hybrid created by us using E. reichenbachii and E. fendleri. The results have been Giant Magenta flowers than can rebloom in late summer. This has proven to be one of the most cold hardy hybrids cactus. These plants pull themselves down and make a very small profile in winter time. 8" tall plants will be 3" tall in winter, which is just impressive. This form has taken -22F and several negative teen temperatures. 
 
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
