Echinocereus viridiflorus neocapillus

Echinocereus viridiflorus neocapillus

Echinocereus viridiflorus forma neocapillus comes from several hilltops in the Trans-pecos region of Texas. This plant starts out as furry seedlings and eventually grows out to stiffer spines. Plants were grwon from mostly white spined plants. A little history, Echinocereus viridiflorus forma canus was originally lumped under this form of viridiflorus

Plants have taken -11F for us with no problems in colorado. We are growing it in a well drained rock garden. Should be one of the more cold-hardy varieties of Green Pitaya.

I do not guarantee these in a zone 5 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
