Echinocereus x neomexicanus

Echinocereus x neomexicanus

Echinocereus x neomexicanus  is a natural hybrid of Echinocereus viridiflorus forma chloranthus and echinocereus coccineus comes from southern New Mexico and west Texas. This plant starts out as typical Echinocereus viridiflorus seedlings and eventually grow long central spines. Plants can have just about every color from dark red to pinks. I grew 5 different forms so if you order multiples ill make sure you get an assortment of flavors. Seed came from Oro Grande, NM originally but was cultivated by Alan Gilmore in Albuquerque, NM

Plants have taken -22F for us with no problems in colorado. We are growing it in a well drained rock garden. Should be one of the more cold-hardy varieties of Green Pitaya.

I do not guarantee these in a zone 5 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
