Echinomastus intertextus - Valencia county, NM

Echinomastus intertextus is a semi-rare species from central New Mexico. These have survived well below zero and taken -17F more than once. This species is a semi-difficult plant to grow and one of the rarest offered plants in the USA. I would say these are about a hair less challenging then Sclerocactus. Definitely do like to be wet for long and love fast draining soils. Commonly in granite but have seen in many others. These are 3 year old seed grown plants. Very few available. Plants are pictured in the lime green pot, around the size of a quarter.

We share our experiences to help with your own trials of cold hardiness. We do not guarantee these plants in any garden or zone. Every garden is different and everyones growing conditions are different. Please try plants at your own risk, I do not want to be misleading to anyone.
