Escobaria hesteri

Escobaria hesteri is from Marathon, Tx and this little plant is an extreme clumping plant. These plants grow stems about as much as they flower. If you give these extra water in the warm months they will grow a new stem and flower all summer long. Plants pictured are what is for sale and these are seed grown plants. The parents of these seedlings easily have well over 50 stems and keep on growing. These commonly get pink to magenta flowers in late spring thru summer. These have taken -22F in our garden and are almost as bulletproof as escobaria vivipara.
