Escobaria missouriensis Greenwood, CO

Escobaria missouriensis is named after the Missouri territory in the 1800s. In general this species grows from Canada to Mexico and from Texas to Arizona. This species is one of the most cold hardy species of cactus. Plants have taken -22F and grow easily in most habitat zones within the area. These plants are squat plants that can get many offsets and get quite large. Bright yellow flowers will fade to oranges or peaches. Seed for these plants came from Greenwood, CO. This area burned last month. We are planning on replanting some but have enough to sell off a few. Plants are small and wont be offered for a few years.
