Grusonia clavata San Ysidro, NM 6000ft

Grusonia clavata or Dog cholla is a real nice plant than can make mats up to 3ft across, they more commonly are 18". Plants have taken -22F many times and have been a real strong grower for us. This is the smaller headed plant as there is a large form that grows much slower. These were cuttings taken in 2018 summer off our large plant and should have real good roots and should grow nicely. Yellow to orange flowers in June.

I do not guarantee these in a zone 5 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.

"Winter Dormant" Plants have been kept outside under an unheated greenhouse and can be shipped bare-root without heat packs as long as temperatures are above 10F in your area. Would still wait to plant in spring to adapt better to your garden.
