Lithops salicola 'Malachite form' C351
Lithops salicola C351 from Luckhoff, South Africa have proven to be quite hardy taking -16.6F this winter. These plants were covered with snow and were exposed to below freezing temperatures for a full week. Earlier in the winter the plants had taken 0F without any cover and they survived that as well. My winters are very dry and this helps with winter cold. This species gets summer rainfall and is not like the species to west. It is more forgiving with moisture and grows very well in the garden. Plants for sale are 3 or 4 years old and have split recently. Lithops salicola is the easist species to grow and can be treated like a aloinopsis in the garden.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5/6/7 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
