Mammillaria meicantha Baca county, CO
Mammillaria meicantha is a cold hardy plant from southeastern Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The seed for this plant was collected near Campo, Colorado. These have taken -17F for us. This location was found by us in Colorado several years ago. You can read about it in the Cactus of Colorado book. These bloom white-cream in early spring and get a deep taproot like a turnip. Only a few available this time. Plants are 1.5 to 2" in size.
