Opuntia x Camanchica Logan, NM

Opuntia x Camanchica is a natural occuring hybrid with Opuntia tortispina and Opuntia phaeacantha. Plants are commonly misidentified as Opuntia phaeacantha because it has brown spines. This particular clone gets large pads and has aggressive looking brown-black spines. These plants should be zone 4b plants in dry conditions. Should be able to take some winter moisture though. Plants will have yellow flowers. The fruit are edible and taste quite good.
