Yucca filifera or yucca fillifera is a semi-cold hardy tree forming yucca from Central mexico. Plants have taken -2F in St George, UT and even colder in Oklahoma. I personally have not tried this species. But if you are a zone 6 or 7 it is definately worth trying. They grow at medium speed. I watched plants go from 1 gallon pots to 4ft tall in a 6 year period.
I do not guarantee these in a zone 5/6/7 because everyones growing conditions are different but this would be a good trial plant to grow in your cold outdoor garden. Try to plant outdoor 90 days before 1st hard freeze.
